Independent Living is a core service of Access Living. With these direct services, people with disabilities generate the skills and resources to transition to integrated communities and to live independently.
Independent Living at Access Living includes a number of programs.
Through our housing services, Access Living helps people navigate the search for accessible, affordable, integrated housing. Community Reintegration program staff find housing and supports for people with disabilities to live in the community. We have many services and supports to make sure independent living happens for people who live in institutions now and who want to live on their own terms, in a place called home.
Community supports staff coordinate services and classes that support people with disabilities in their own homes.
The Ready Program prepares students with disabilities for college or employment. It is designed to address the significant outcome gap in employment between people with disabilities and non-disabled people. The program is part of the Access Living Youth Institute.
Through peer support programs, people with disabilities can find a safe place to get together to share their concerns and solve problems about everyday issues that affect their lives.
