In-School and Virtual Programs for Youth with Disabilities

Access Living offers multiple opportunities and programs for youth with disabilities to learn, grow, build community, and prepare for their futures. At this time, all youth programs are meeting in person, with the flexibility to hold virtual meetings if that is preferred by a school or teacher.

In-School Programs

Young adults with disabilities can benefit from disability-specific programs.

Access Living offers three in school curriculum-based programs for students with disabilities in Chicago Public Schools:

  • YIELD the Power Workshops teaches students with disabilities self-advocacy and leadership skills.
  • Early Start teaches high school students with disabilities actionable ways to take control of their futures, whether they see themselves entering the workforce or going to college.
  • Pathways is a program for youth, ages 10-25, with disabilities that teaches independent living, self-advocacy, post-secondary education, and employment skills. Coordinators assist youth transitioning out of high school to ensure a successful future. Students must be in one of the following Chicago Public Schols to qualify: Southside Occupational, Englewood STEM High School, Richards High School, Noble Johnson College Prep, and Harvard School of Excellence Elementary School.
