Workshop: Body Casting

October 26, 2022 @ 11:00 AM 3:00 PM

115 West Chicago Avenue
Chicago, Illinois 60654 United States

Join the Arts and Culture Program and our new art therapy graduate intern, Amy Bernard, for a free, fun body casting workshop this Wednesday, October 26, from 11am-3pm at Access Living.

Amy will take you through creating a cast of your hand, foot, face, or any body part (within reason!) out of plaster. You will take home a piece of yourself as artwork! This event is open to all Access Living consumers and staff.

The process will involve holding still for a maximum of 10 minutes in a gooey body-safe material as it hardens. Please dress for the chance of messiness. Prepare to dedicate at least 45 min to your project.

Consumers can email Amy at to RVSP and request PACE vouchers.

This event is brought to you by the Arts and Culture Project at Access Living, an independent living center for people with disabilities, Bodies of Work: Network of Disability Art and Culture, Shirley Ryan Abilities Lab, and the Disability Culture Activism Lab (DCAL), a teaching lab housed under the department of art therapy and counseling at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The contents of this event were developed under a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR grant number 90RTCP0005).
