Peer Support

A key core service of all independent living centers across the United States is peer support. Through peer support, people with disabilities can find a safe place to get together to share their concerns and solve problems about everyday issues that affect their lives.

Access Living coordinates a wide variety of peer support groups that cover a diverse range of issues and groups.

For people with disabilities who are working to improve employment and credit opportunities for themselves and for other people with disabilities.

The Empowered Fe Fes is a support and action group of young women with disabilities ages 13 to 24. The Fe Fes represent all different kinds of disabilities and come from different racial and ethnic communities around Chicago.

The Cross Disability Support group at Access Living provides a forum for mutual acceptance, understanding and self-discovery. Through peer support, people with disabilities can find a safe place to get together to share their concerns and solve problems about everyday issues that affect their lives.
