Seeking: Full-Time Home Modifications Coordinator

Position Snapshot

The Home Modifications Coordinator supports the independent living of people with disabilities by assessing and implementing home modifications that improve the accessibility and usability of the consumer’s residence.

  • $50,000-$53,000 starting salary
  • Hybrid work environment – In office two days per week, three remote, with flexible bank of additional remote work days to use throughout the year as desired.

Basic Function:

This position is responsible for coordinating home modifications to increase safety and independence within the home for persons with disabilities that participate in INCIL’s Home Modification Program.

Specific Duties:

Duties and responsibilities will be the coordination of this program and will be done using the modification criteria written exclusively for the Illinois Network for Centers for Independent Living Home Modification Program.

  • Conduct initial intake home assessments to determine the feasibility of the modification request to improve and increase safety and independence within the home for persons with disabilities.
  • Gather required information, including ID, disability verification, and income.
  • Provide a detailed assessment report including the scope of work for modification.
  • Provide proof of the contractor’s credentials, vetting each contractor utilized and obtaining any licenses, certificates, etc.
  • Obtain at least two bids from a local contractor to perform necessary modifications.
  • Submit pre-approval post approval forms to funder.
  • If not approved, discuss needed changes and revise assessment report.
  • Conduct post-construction site visits upon completion of modification.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to private funders as required by contract and adhere to program deadlines.
  • Work with Housing Supervisor and others to develop method for program outreach and selection.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Experience in home improvement, remodeling, building codes for accessible living spaces, and working with people with disabilities is preferred.

Education and Training:

Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience preferred

Physical Demands:

Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland areas and climb stairs. Some travel to Springfield, IL may be necessary.

Equipment Operated:

Proficient with computers and software to include: Windows, Internet, Microsoft office, fax machine, and telephone.

Working Environment:

Access Living operates under a hybrid office plan. Staff members are required to come into the office two days out of every week and may work remotely the other three if they so choose.

Access Living’s office environment is one of shared workspace with individual cubicles. Verbal communication can be heard from other staff in adjoining cubicles.
