The vegetative roof system will reduce storm-water runoff. The building will contribute to reduce the heat island effect by both allocating all of the parking either underground or indoors along with providing at least 50% of the roof area as a vegetative roof system.

Ten percent of the building materials incorporate post-consumer recycled materials, and five percent of the building materials incorporate post-industrial recycled materials.
Everyone’s heard of it, but how does the embodiment of Green Design work? Access Living’s new headquarters building not only meets, but exceeds the minimum criteria established to qualify as a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) building.

Here are just several of our building’s Green Design components:
Energy consumption required for building operation is reduced 25 percent by sensors for shade and lighting that automatically adjust to available ambient light, daylight harvesting, a vegetative roof system, a highly efficient cooling system and more.

Mechanical systems eliminate contributors to ozone-depleting refrigerants into the environment.

Water usage is reduced through automatic touchless water fountains, faucets and flush valves, along with water-conserving fixtures.

Ten percent of the building materials incorporate post-consumer recycled materials, and five percent of the building materials incorporate post-industrial recycled materials. Recycled furniture content also meets these criteria.

Low-emitting materials, including paint, adhesives, solvents and carpeting, eliminate air contaminants that may be irritating or harmful to the comfort of Access Living staff, clients and other visitors.

Green Design extends well beyond the walls of the building itself. Close to multiple public transportation bus and train routes, Access Living’s new site encourages people not to drive. Bicyclists can use ample bike racks in the garage, as well as showers to freshen up for work. Electrical outlets in the garage enable alternate fueled vehicles to recharge. The building stands as a compelling reminder to all that Green Design is the way to go in new construction.
