Action Alert: Home Services Program Overtime Problem

Here is an action alert from Access Living’s Director of Advocacy targeting the Illinois implementation of new overtime rules.

Dear Access Living friends and allies,

We are continuing to monitor the State of Illinois’ process to limit overtime hours for the Home Services Program (HSP). Right now, the policy is still to limit overtime to 40 hours per week, unless the person with a disability has approval to allow overtime. The problem is, that of about 27,000 HSP customers, only about 1100 qualify to approve overtime, and only 200 of those have done the necessary paperwork to request overtime approval. The process continues to be extremely burdensome for HSP customers, and the qualifications for overtime are extremely restrictive.

Today, we are asking for your help. Please contact the State of Illinois right now by using this link to ask the State to eliminate the hours cap or at least create a much more flexible policy. It is very important that they hear from you TODAY, so please share the link with your family and friends.

Let’s go Illinois!
