Statement Against Asian American Pacific Islander Hate and Violence

Yesterday evening eight people were tragically killed at three separate spas in Georgia. Six of the people killed were Asian women. Access Living is deeply disturbed by this situation as details continue to unfold, and we grieve in solidarity with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Atlanta, Chicago and beyond. Sadly, our country has a long history of racism, xenophobia and misogyny towards Asian women. These murders are just another example of the pervasive, deadly consequences of that history, combined with the disturbing rise of hate crimes directed towards Asian people during the pandemic. Access Living calls for an end to the devastation of hate crimes once and for all. #StopAAPIHate
