Stop attempts to water down the Better Care Better Jobs Act

Access Living friends and allies,

Across the country, disability and worker advocates are calling on Congress to pass the Better Care Better Jobs Act. This critical bill, which would invest $400 billion in home and community based services (HCBS) at a time when it is more needed than ever before, is facing major attempts to water it down. We cannot allow this to happen. We need YOU!

Learn More About the Bill:

It’s important to know that this $400 billion investment is THE most significant commitment that the Biden Administration committed to for people with disabilities. We have got to see this through! To learn more about the Better Care Better Jobs Act, check out the bill summary at this link, put together by the U.S. Senate Aging Committee. The major points of the bill are to:

…Enhance Medicaid funding for home and community based services (HCBS)
…Encourage innovative models that benefit direct care workers and care recipients
…Support quality and accountability
…Facilitate state planning
…Permanent spousal impoverishment protections
…Make the Money Follows the Person Rebalancing Demonstration permanent.

Contact Your Members of Congress:

It is absolutely essential that your members of Congress hear about why you need them to support this bill. Here is a quick email action link you can use to contact them. We need tons of emails going in, as well as calls if you can do them. Please consider also asking your family, friends and support workers to do this as well. Over the course of the pandemic and our national economic recovery effort, Medicaid HCBS has consistently been sent to the back of the line. The time to act is now!

Please share this alert widely. Thank you for your advocacy.
