Celebrating the Dignity in Pay Act

Access Living friends and allies,

The Illinois Dignity in Pay Act is now law! Yesterday, Governor JB Pritzker, Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton, and a host of champions and allies gathered at Access Living to celebrate the many years of work that went into creating this new law, which will phase out the use of the disability sub minimum wage in Illinois between now and the end of 2029. At the event’s conclusion, Governor Pritzker signed Dignity in Pay into law.

Access Living would like to thank all of YOU for being part of the work to end the disability sub minimum wage in Illinois. Every call, every email, every effort to find a way to advance competitive integrated employment, to change business models and most of all, old ways of thinking: IT MATTERED. We’d like to give a special shout out to our own Economic Justice Policy Analyst Nick Boyle, who helped lead the Dignity in Pay passage in collaboration with our partners over the last two years. Thank you, Nick!
