Access Living friends and allies,

All disability advocates’ eyes need to be on Washington, DC today. The U.S. Senate passed its version of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) yesterday, sending it back to the U.S. House for review and a vote. If the House passes the OBBB, it will go to the President to sign into law. We must stop this. The Senate version of the OBBB will put in place the largest cuts to Medicaid ever, as well as cuts to SNAP. The House will begin working to get the bill through TODAY. Here is what we need.

There are seven key Congressmen that need to hear from people who care about Medicaid. They are in Nebraska, California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Iowa, and Wisconsin. They especially need to hear from people who live in their districts/states. You can use this email link to alert your own member of the U.S. House. BUT, it is very important that the following people receive CALLS.

  1. Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) 202-225-4155
  2. Congressman David Valadao (R-CA) 202-225-4695
  3. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) 202-225-4276
  4. Congressman Greg Murphy (R-NC) 202-225-3415
  5. Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) 202-225-6576
  6. Congressman Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) 202-225-5506
  7. Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) 202-225-2356

If you live in Illinois, these three people need calls:

  1. Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) 202-225-6201
  2. Congressman Mike Bost (R-IL) 202-225-5661
  3. Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) 202-225-5271

What would you say on a phone call to these members of Congress? Here is an example phone script.

Hello, my name is ____, I’m a disability voter, and I’m calling because I care about Medicaid and SNAP. These programs are important to millions of people with disabilities, and the potential cuts will also be dangerous for state budgets. Please stand up for us! Please vote NO on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Thank you.”We need to go, go, go! Please ask anyone you know who lives in Nebraska, California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Iowa, and Wisconsin to CALL these members of Congress ASAP! Thank you for your advocacy, and let’s keep fighting.
