In 2015, in the spirit of the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Access Living will partner with StoryCorps and the Disability Visibility Project to archive stories from the disability community. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected more than 50,000 interviews from more than 80,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. People with disabilities are encouraged to tag their conversations with StoryCorps through the Disability Visibility Project, which aims to collect the diverse voices of people in the disability community and preserve their history for all.
Through its partnership with StoryCorps and the Disability Visibility Project, Access Living is hosting a recording session on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. On that day, StoryCorps will record six interviews at Access Living. All of those interviews will be tagged under the Disability Visibility Project. Access Living is currently seeking individuals from the disability community to participate in the recording sessions on January 14.
If you are interested and would like to be considered, fill out a simple questionnaire and return it to Access Living.
2015-January-14-StoryCorps (Questionnaires) are due by December 20, 2014.
