DESCRIPTION:This Valentine’s Day\, People Over Profit (POP) is hosting “Love Without Limits: A Valentine’s Day Celebration of Disabled Empowerment”. This event will be held at Access Living on February 13th and February 14th. \n\n\n\nOn February 13th\, join us from 1-2:30PM for a panel discussion with disability activists and organizers to discuss how marriage can impact SSI benefits. The play will take place in Access Living’s event space at 1pm and will be followed by a Q and A with the actors.  \n\n\n\nAbout The Zoo:\n\n\n\nTwo prisoners share a bench in the communal area of Dixon Correctional Center\, one from the general population; the other from the prison’s Special Treatment Center. DESCRIPTION:Become a Paid Personal Assistant for People with Disabilities\n\n\n\nAccess Living provides training for people interested in becoming a paid Personal Assistant for people with disabilities. These trainings are open to members of the public as well as the family members of people with disabilities. If you provide care for a loved one with a disability you may qualify for wages by becoming a registered PA! \n\n\n\nSchedule training:\n\n\n\nIf you would like to be scheduled for a training\, contact a Personal Assistant Training Coordinator. Due to COVID-19 safety measures\, there are a limited number of seats per training. Contact a Personal Assistant Training Coordinator to reserve your spot. \n\n\n\nPlease bring the following items to your training session:\n\n\n\nPhoto ID (Driver’s License or State ID)Social Security CardResume and three professional referencesCertified Nursing Assistant Certificate (if applicable)Face mask that covers both your nose and mouth(Optional) Proof of COVID-19 vaccination\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Program\n\n\n\nPAs are hired directly by a person with disabilities\, not by Access Living. This means you will be employed directly by the person you’re hired to support. In many cases\, the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS/IDRS) serves as the fiscal agent\, which means that they will pay you. Access Living is not responsible for payment or regulation of payment. \n\n\n\nOur program is for training only. We are not a personal assistant hiring agency.
