Access Living trains people who want to be Personal Assistants and keeps a data base of Personal Assistants that is available to people with disabilities (consumers) who want to hire some one for home care services. In our consumer control model of services, the consumers are the ones who interview, decide who to hire, when to fire and they supervise the Personal Assistant‘s work. The Personal Assistant Services Coordinator helps the consumer access services, possibly through a referral to the state of Illinois Home Service Program or as a person privately paying their Personal Assistant. The Coordinator assists by making referrals from our data base of Personal Assistants, by counseling the consumer on the many questions that arise in selecting, supervising and in changing Personal Assistants.
