Ladonna Freidheim, Disability Arts Consultant, is passionate about inclusion, dance, science, and joy. She is a formally trained dancer and experienced arts administrator.
Ladonna grew up dancing. After a progressive disability ended her ballerina life, Ladonna recovered from surgeries at the University of Illinois, where she was introduced to disability culture. They taught her to play wheelchair sports and she taught them to dance in their chairs.
After returning to Chicago, Ladonna enjoyed a successful career in arts administration, working her way up from the box office to managing director. She has also served on a number of boards of directors.
In 2006, Ladonna joined Dance>Detour, the first professional physically-integrated dance performance company in Chicago. She went on to found ReinventAbility, develop disability dance curriculum and conduct inclusion seminars. Ladonna currently dances with MOMENTA performance company and is the Co-Director of CounterBalance: The Power Of Integrated Dance.
