SUMMARY:[Webinar] Palliative Care and Disability: Enhancing Quality of Life
DESCRIPTION:Join Access Living and the HAP Foundation for a webinar on palliative care and people with disabilities. This event will have captioning\, ASL\, and a phone option for Spanish translation. \n\n\n\nWhat is palliative care? Palliative care is specialized medical care for those living with serious medical conditions\, such as cancer. Palliative care is meant to enhance a person’s current care by focusing on quality of life for them and their family. \n\n\n\nEnd of life issues are a sensitive and personal topic. While stories about physician assisted suicide regularly appear in mainstream press\, historically there has been less focus on the benefits of palliative care and hospice as safer\, gentler options for end of life support. \n\n\n\nWe will be joined by Sarah Dado and Maureen Burns from the HAP Foundation\, formerly the JourneyCare Foundation\, for a conversation about the value of palliative care. One of the goals of the HAP Foundation is to empower individuals to make informed choices\, and give them a connection to resources that strengthen the continuity of care through the end of life. \n\n\n\n\nRegister for Webinar\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is the first of two Access Living webinars centered around measures to enhance quality of life of those nearing the end of life\, without taking drastic measures.
