SUMMARY:Self- & Community Care Night (Hybrid Event)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of peer-led wellness opportunities! This event is hybrid and can be attended in person or virtually. \n\n\n\nAgenda \n\n\n\n5:00-6:00PM: Meditation and Adaptive Yoga \n\n\n\n\nA brief conversation about self and community care will introduce the evening. Following this\, Access Living’s own Ryan McGraw will be leading us in an adaptive yoga and meditation session.\n\n\n\n\n6:00-7:00PM: Community Coloring \n\n\n\n\nLet’s color together using the recently released “Disability Justice from A to Z” coloring book. \n\n\n\nJoining us virtually? Download and print the first three pages of the coloring book so you can participate from home.\n\n\n\n(Access Living has purchased 25 copies of “Disability Justice from A to Z” and will be handing them out to in-person participants on a first-come first-served basis!)\n\n\n\n\n\nAttend Virtually\n\n\n\n\nAccess Information  \n\n\n\nASL interpretation and live auto captioning (in Zoom) will be provided. \n\n\n\nAccess Living is a scent-free building. Please refrain from wearing scented products\, such as scented lotion\, perfume and cologne. \n\n\n\nAll areas of the building are wheelchair accessible. \n\n\n\nPlease note that masks are required for entry into the Access Living building and must be worn at all times. You will also be asked to show proof of vaccination (if vaccinated) and to complete a health screener upon entry into the building. \n\n\n\nContact bbeck@accessliving.org with questions and and access requests. \n\n\n\n\n\nSponsor Information \n\n\n\nThis event is brought to you by the Arts and Culture Project at Access Living\, an independent living center for people with disabilities\, Bodies of Work: Network of Disability Art and Culture\, Shirley Ryan Abilities Lab\, and the Disability Culture Activism Lab (DCAL)\, a teaching lab housed under the department of art therapy and counseling at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. \n\n\n\nAs a platform for creative disability art and advocacy projects\, DCAL uses a peer support and collective care model in which disability community members from Access Living and art therapy graduate students collaborate as disability culture makers for social change.
