Covid-19 Vigil in Memory of Lives Lost at Long Term Care Facilities

July 27, 2020 @ 8:00 AM 9:00 AM

50 W. Washington Street
Chicago, Illinois 60602

On Monday, July 27th, we gather together with our fellow advocates, allies, and activists to honor the memories of the 3,974 lives lost in nursing homes due to Covid-19.

More than 50% of the COVID related deaths in Illinois have taken place in Long Term Care Facilities. The State of Illinois needs to invest in Home and Community Based Services to ensure that people transitioning out of Long Term Care settings can do so safely and that people using home services are secure in their own homes.

Representatives from the following organizations will speak at the event: Task Force on Attendant Services, Going Home Coalition, Institutional Rescue and Recovery Coalition, and SEIU.

Join us at Daley Plaza as we remember the friends we’ve lost, or participate online by creating posts on your social media about:
1. The need to transition residents out of long term care settings
2. Improving conditions in long term care settings
3. Funding home and community based services

Please use hashtags #SaveDisabledLives#OurHomesNotNursingHomes
