Peer Support

Talk to others about your experiences

The Personal Assistant and Health Care Team maintains two peer support groups.

The DI Support Group serves people in the nursing home who are preparing to move back into the community. The support sessions allow the members to share information and experiences, hear guest speakers, learn about supports available, and gain confidence in reaching their goal of living independently in the community.

The Stepping Stones Peer Support Group is for people recently moved back into the community. The group focuses on helping people to develop a positive disability identity, learn about resources available to them, and to participate in activities available in the community. Stepping Stone members become better self-advocates and disability community advocates, learn basic skills (i.e. computers) and develop a supportive social network.
