Mission Statement
CDEL's mission is to provide an appropriate resolution of civil legal needs and inquiries of low-income individuals with disabilities in the Chicago area by staff and volunteer attorneys. Services are provided in a manner that sensitively recognizes and accommodates the needs of each person's disability. CDEL's mission is accomplished: (1) through direct legal representation, (2) by recruitment and training of volunteer attorneys and staff, (3) through education, (4) by community outreach, and (5) through dissemination of appropriate information and referrals to other agencies.

The Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) provides low-income elderly and persons with disabilities with pro bono legal services. CDEL leverages over 600 volunteer attorneys and over 125 volunteer paralegals and law students to serve our clients. Cases are handled in all areas of civil law, excluding tort cases. CDEL does not practice criminal law
