Comments of Access Living on Best Practices in Medicaid Managed Care
On September 25, 2014, the Senate Finance Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee issued a request for information from a variety of stake holders on best practices for delivering timely and high quality health care through Medicaid managed care plans. This topic is of great importance given the manner in which numerous states, including Illinois, are attempting to serve Medicaid recipients through private managed health care plans. We submitted the following set of comments from the point of view of Access Living’s consumers who receive Medicaid and have an interest in getting the best health services possible in their communities. We also commented in Access Living’s capacity as an advising partner in the creation and continuing operations of Community Care Alliance of Illinois, a not-for-profit, consumer-directed Medicaid managed care organization devoted to serving people with disabilities.
