Congratulations to the 2011 Chicagoans of the Year!

Congratulations to Access Living Board Member and former board chair Zully Alvarado. On Thursday, January 26, Zully was honored by Chicago Magazine as one of six Chicagoans of the Year. Zully was recognized for her work with Causes for Change, a group she founded and launched in 1996. Through Causes for Change, For most of the last 15 years, Alvarado, accompanied by doctors, dentists, nurses, and a cadre of volunteers, some from as far away as Australia, Chile, and Sweden, has made two or three annual visits to Central and South America, taking medical supplies, treatments, and education, (Chicago Magazine, January 2012). Zully accepted the honor at a ceremony at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. Also honored as one of the six Chicagoans of the Year was Roger Ebert, Access Livings 2011 Lead On! Honoree, for his incredible body of work, and for the passion and commitment he continues to devote to Chicago and to the job that he loves. Congratulations to Zully, Roger and all the honorees.
