Action Alert! - Push for Closure of Jacksonville and Mabley Developmental Centers

On October 27 in the morning, the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA) will vote on whether to close the Mabley and Jacksonville Centers for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Since the Governor announced the closures in September, members of the disabilities community have rallied around the opportunity to transition more people with disabilities into the community and build more supports and services in the community.

The vote on October 27 is a very important step toward making closure of large segregated institutions a reality.

Access Living you to contact members of COGFA and urge them to vote to close Jacksonville and Mabley.

Please, take a few moments and reach out to these three commission members:

“Close Jacksonville and Mabley and move Illinois into the 21st Century. Move all of the savings from these closures into community settings and services for people with developmental disabilities.”
