Health care protections under fire in Washington Though health care legislation benefits people with disabilities, the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced legislation to repeal the law. The House will vote on repeal on Wednesday, January 19 . In the face of the vote, the disability community is organizing to protect the current health care law. People with disabilities are urged to contact their representatives and senators and urge them to preserve health care protections for people with disabilities.	January 18, 2011

Stop the Train Wreck! Rally to protect services for people with disabilities Governor Quinn has pledged to take the disability community down the track toward independence and inclusion, and has suggested that the proposed FY 2012 Budget reflects that commitment. Yet, specifics within the proposed FY 2012 Budget indicate a cut to services that support people with disabilities living in the community and indicate a threat to the independence of people with disabilities. Disability groups rally against budget that fails to support people with disabilities in the communityThursday morning, February 24, individuals and organizations representing a wide range of disabilities rallied outside the Thompson Center against Governor Quinn’s proposed state budget.
