Story on Illinois budget from Medill Reports
Earlier this week, journalism students with Medill Reports interviewed a few Access Living Staff about the impact of the Illinois budget on the independence of people with disabilities. The story ran on Wednesday evening on the Northwestern News Report, an Evanston cable access station.

Stop the Train Wreck! Rally to protect services for people with disabilities
Governor Quinn has pledged to take the disability community down the track toward independence and inclusion, and has suggested that the proposed FY 2012 Budget reflects that commitment. Yet, specifics within the proposed FY 2012 Budget indicate a cut to services that support people with disabilities living in the community and indicate a threat to the independence of people with disabilities.
Stop the Train Wreck. Rally at the State of Illinois Building (100 West Randolph) from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on February 24.

Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn is scheduled to sign the Illinois Medicaid package today, June 14. This package includes some bad news for people with disabilities. There is still time to fight it.

State to close Alden Village North
On March 3, Illinois State Officials announced it would take steps to close Alden Village North, a nursing home on the northside of Chicago at which 13 children and young adults with disabilities have died since 2000.
