Communities urge elected officials to support economic, health, and retirement programs
On Tuesday, October 30, nearly 300 grassroots community,
labor, senior and disability leaders rallied for economic and retirement security. Meeting at the Chicago Temple at 77 West Washington with members of the Chicago Legislative Delegation, the crowd called on U.S. Political Leaders from the Chicago area to support programs and initiatives that promote economic, health, and retirement security.

Health care protections under fire in Washington Though health care legislation benefits people with disabilities,
the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced legislation to repeal the law. The House will vote on repeal on Wednesday, January 19 .

In the face of the vote, the disability community is organizing to protect the current health care law. People with disabilities are urged to contact their representatives and senators and urge them to preserve health care protections for people with disabilities. 		January 18, 2011

Rally to protect services for people with disabilities Governor Quinn has pledged to take the disability community down the track toward independence and inclusion, and has suggested that the proposed FY 2012 Budget reflects that commitment. Yet, specifics within the proposed FY 2012 Budget indicate a cut to services that support people with disabilities living in the community and indicate a threat to the independence of people with disabilities. Deinstitutionalization Support GroupPersonal Assistant Health CareMonthly group for nursing home residents with disabilities who would like to learn about opportunities to live in

Task Force on Attendant ServicesThe Task Force on Attendant Services organizes consumers to expand and defend home and community services for people with disabilities of all ages. Group meets the first Wednesday of each month
