Financial Stability Classes begin in October

October -- 2013
The New Financial Stability classes start in October. The classes will meet weekly between October 2nd and December 18th. The meetings will be held at Access Living located at 115 W. Chicago Ave. on Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m.

This is a 12-week course in which participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

The program makes a concerted push to raise consumers’ awareness about the benefits of learning more about their financial matters. Participants are equipped with materials and tools to help them better manage and take control of their personal finances.

Access Living Financial Stability classes use the FDIC national financial education curriculum ‘Money Smart.’ Money Smart is a comprehensive financial education curriculum designed to help low and moderate income individuals with disabilities enhance their financial skills and create positive banking relationships. We also work with our community partners ComEd and PNC to name a few. This is a 12 week course in which participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

• How to open and maintain a checking/saving account
• Strategies and tools to help you save money
• Understanding consumer protection laws

Starting October 2nd when consumers attend the financial literacy classes a stipend will be given and set aside for every class they attend, In the end a lump sum will be given to each participant to save or invest.

Wednesday, November 13th: How your Credit History will affect your Credit Future

Wednesday, November 20th: Know what you are borrowing before you buy

Tuesday November 26th: Cost Associated with the Home Buying Process

Wednesday, December 4th: How to Lower your Bills and be Energy Efficient

Wednesday, December 11th: Steps to Financial Recovery

Wednesday: December 18th: Celebration
