Peer SupportA photograph of a peer support group for people with disabilities. The picture shows three people sitting along the edge of a conference room table. A woman, second from the left in the photograph, is speaking to the group.

  • As a core service of Centers for Independent Living, Access Living offers a wide variety of peer support groups which are run by and for people with disabilities. Covering varying topics, peer support groups allow individuals to discuss issues important to them with people whose experiences are similar to their own. Access Living's peer support groups include:

  • The Empowered Fe Fe's - a group for young women with disabilities to talk about matters related to sexuality, relationships and self-esteem.

  • Deaf/hard of hearing - a group for people who want to discuss strategies for addressing barriers often unique to deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

  • Housing - a group for people with disabilities searching for integrated, accessible, affordable housing.

  • Community Reintegration - a group for people with disabilities who have transitioned into the community or are waiting to move out of a nursing home.

  • General Disability - a group for anyone with any kind of disability.

To find out more about the peer support groups Access Living offers, call Access Living and ask to speak with our Information and Referral Coordinator.
