The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund A national law and policy center dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities.

Disaboom There are more than 50 million adults with disabilities in the United States alone, but so far, as a specific market, they¹ve been largely unrecognized and underserved. Disaboom, which just launched last month, aims to change all that with a social network aimed specifically at consumers whose lives have been touched by disabilities.

National Center on Accessibility   A collaborative program of Indiana University and the National Park Service, the National Center on Accessibility is the nation’s premiere resource promoting access for people with disabilities in recreation

The National Council on Disability An independent federal agency making recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting Americans with disabilities.

The National Council on Independent Living A membership organization that advances the independent living philosophy and advocates for the human rights of, and services for, people with disabilities to further their full integration and participation in society.

National Organization on Disability An organization dedicated to expanding the participation and contribution of people with disabilities.

The Technical Assistance Collaborative A national organization that works to achieve positive outcomes on behalf of people with disabilities by providing state-of-the-art information, capacity building, and technical expertise to organizations and policy makers in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, human services, and affordable housing.

www.FairHousingFIRST.org Fair Housing First is an initiative designed to promote compliance with the Fair Housing Act design and construction requirements.  The program offers comprehensive and detailed instruction programs, useful online resources, and a toll-free information line for technical guidance and support.

Equip for Equality Organization that operates the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy System for Illinois, which safeguards the rights of children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.

Housing Action Illinois Housing Action Illinois, a statewide, non-profit, membership-based organization, provides technical assistance to non-profit housing developers and housing counseling agencies. Since 1990, this work has resulted in the development or preservation of more than 1,400 affordable units.

Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights An alliance of more than 90 organizations advancing the rights of immigrants and refugees.

Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living A statewide organization made up of 24 centers for independent living in Illinois. This website can help you find the center for independent living nearest you.

www.ilolmsteadcoalition.com  A website created by the Illinois Olmstead Coalition.  The mission of the Illinois Olmstead Coalition is to end the institutional bias in Illinois' long-term care system and the unnecessary institutionalization of people with disabilities and seniors who want to live in the community. We are working to create a long-term care system in which there is an equitable array of options to respond to individual needs and preferences. We are dedicated to ensuring full compliance in Illinois with the provisions of the Supreme Court's Olmstead decision.

Access Living's Youth Center

Please join us in the opening of Access Living's Youth Center brought to you with funding from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities!  Use our youth center for youth with disabilities in Chicago!  The Youth Center 

  • Informs youth and our supports on Chicago area advocacy resources,
  • Connects young Chicagoans with disabilities tips on how to advocate for yourself and gives roads to national disability rights,
  • Provides advice and stories about real-world disability experience to young people,
  • Gives youth the low-down on happenings in Chicago,
  • Tells our visitors about Access Living youth programs
  • Plus, shares information on grassroots organizing for the rights of youth with disabilities.
