Civil Rights
Civil rights laws that protect people with disabilities are essential to addressing discrimination many people with disabilities confront with respect to housing, government services, education, transportation and housing. The laws however, cannot stand on their own. Education and enforcement are key to making civil rights protections a reality for people with disabilities.
Access Living's Civil Rights Team enforces federal,
state and local civil rights laws, including the
Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act and related laws, which prohibit
discrimination against persons with
disabilities. Attorneys and legal assistants
counsel persons with disabilities about their civil
rights and provide representation in cases
implicating important disability rights
issues. Our enforcement and education efforts include:
-
Enforcing the Federal Fair Housing Act. If you think you've faced housing discrimination because of your disability, we can help you figure out what to do about it. Call our
